Summer home maintenance tips

Chances are you'll be spending more time around the house this summer so why not tackle these maintenance items and get your house in tip top shape!

1) Wash windows inside and out. You'll be amazed once they're clean how much sun shines in!

2) Check your brick tuck pointing and repair as needed.

3) Inspect siding for rotting - power washing is a great way to clean the siding and find any issues.

4) Have air conditioner cleaned and serviced and filters replaced. Regular servicing will extend the life of your system.

5) Touch up any chipped or faded exterior paint.

6) Clear out leaves and debris from downspouts and gutters.

7) Clean lint from the dryer vent and exhaust duct.

8) Repair your fence as needed. Also a great time to stain or repaint.

9) Check seals on windows. Re-caulk seals on windows and doors.

10) Power wash and reseal your deck.

11) Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Replace batteries as needed.

12) Clean the garbage disposal by grinding ice cubes, then flushing with hot water and baking soda.

13) Use a damp rag to clean the tops of all ceiling fans, including bathroom fan vents.

14) Clean your range hood with a citrus based cleaner and soak your range filter to remove any buildup.

15) Deep clean your BBQ grill - run the grill for 20 minutes, turn it off. While still warm, scrub all grates.
